According to a findings report based on the 2018 National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS), 3 out of 10 elderly are at risk of malnutrition in Malaysia. For seniors living with dementia, malnutrition is a heightened concern given the condition’s interference with performing daily activities. Shin Hwa from Homey talks about malnutrition in people with dementia, signs to look out for, prevention and diet improvement to reduce our risk of dementia.

Chau Shin Hwa graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from the University Sains Malaysia (USM) and earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition from The National University of Malaysia (UKM). She has also completed her dietetics clinical training and has been involved in community wellness programmes.

She is currently a dietitian at Homey, a nutrition optimisation platform helping people to make informed decisions on nutrition and healthy eating.
