Homage Care Plans: Which Package is Right For You?

Thinking of engaging with Homage for home care? Find out the key considerations before getting care at home and the best Homage care plan for you.

by Calvyn Ee

Here at Homage, our aim is to provide you with the best home care that your loved ones deserve. Whether it is as simple as providing companionship while you are away at work, a bedside carer at the hospital after surgery, or for long-term medical needs for bedridden persons, our trained and certified Care Professionals will do their very best to deliver quality care in assisting your loved ones with activities of daily living (ADL) and more.

If you are looking to engage with our services but don’t know where to start, we hope this article gives you a better understanding of what to consider and determine which care plan best suits you and your family.

What is a Homage Care Plan?

We provide personalised care plans that cater to your care needs at home. We will first ask a number of additional questions to better understand your needs.

  • What is your loved one’s health status?
  • Are they bedridden or do they have some degree of mobility?
  • What kind of care do they need?
  • Do you have any preferences on the care they receive?

Once we have all the information we need, we will assign one of our many excellent Care Professionals (Care Pros, in short) to assist. They are all given extensive, in-depth caregiver training in order to help you and your loved ones to the fullest.

The level of care our Care Pros can provide depends on their qualifications. Our nurses, for example, are all professionally accredited by the Nursing Board of Malaysia, also known as Lembaga Jururawat Malaysia or the Medical Assistant Board Malaysia. As such, they are able to perform nursing-related tasks and administer medications as prescribed by doctors.

Other care activities our Care Pros can provide include:

We will go into some of these in the following sections.

Key Considerations

It is crucial that we understand the needs of your loved ones in order to provide the best in-home care that they require.

Medical Conditions

Depending on your loved one’s medical condition(s), they may need some level of assistance with performing their ADLs. In some cases, your loved one is able to look after themselves, but there may be areas where they will need some help. Those diagnosed with the onset of dementia, for example. As time passes, they will eventually need more attention to make sure they do not hurt themselves when doing certain activities.

For more serious cases, this can be especially demanding. For loved ones who are bedridden, they are unable to move around freely and sometimes, they cannot even take good care of their physical cleanliness. Our Care Pros are certified caregivers, so they will be able to provide the appropriate levels of care your loved one deserves. If a medical nurse is needed for specific medical procedures (such as wound or stoma care), we can assign one to help you.

If you also need help taking your loved one to their medical appointments, our Care Pro can help as a medical escort to move them, or help you move them, to and from doctor appointments or hospital check-ups.

Personal Care Needs

Every individual is unique on its own, with personal care requirements. Other than knowing the care needs of your loved ones based on their health conditions, it is also important to acknowledge your own needs as the family caregiver. While your role as a caregiver is important, you would also need to manage other priorities like work, studies, and family. It is not selfish to take a break from time to time, as it allows you to recharge and be able to manage a better relationship with your loved ones.

Once you have gathered these info, share them with us and we will be able to suggest the best care plan for you based on your availability.

Frequency of Visits

On top of the prior considerations, we can also discuss the frequency of visits for caring for your loved one. Our plans are created on a monthly basis, so once the stipulated hours have been completed, the plan will be considered complete. You can always arrange for multiple care sessions if needed; you can even save up to 40% with our care packages for multiple sessions.

Our Care Plans are priced reasonably depending on the kind of caregiving assistance you need. General daily living care assistance can be as low as RM30/hour, while nursing care goes for as low as RM36/hour. On top of long-term care plans, we also provide shorter one-hour sessions as well, depending on your family’s preferences and your loved one’s needs.

Rest assured that we will consider your financial situation when setting up a care plan that works for you. Just let us know how we can help and we will do the rest.

What Homage Care Plans Are Available?

Once a care plan has been agreed upon, the assigned Care Pro will be at your home (or your loved one’s home) for the arranged Homage visit. All plans are valid for a 30-day duration. So let’s say, for example, we have set up a 20-hour plan for looking after your loved one. For this plan, the assigned Care Pro may provide you with 5 hours of assistance per week throughout the plan’s duration.

Do note that all our care plans are for both Personal Care and Nursing Care related services only. Therapy services such as physiotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy are packaged separately.

Let’s zoom into the care plans we offer.

20-Hour Plan

This plan is offered to newcomers to Homage who might be interested in our care services, but aren’t fully ready to commit to a long-term plan. For new users, this plan gives you a glimpse into what caregiving services we provide. You can consider it to be a short trial run or a new experience if you have never hired professional caregivers before.

This plan is also ideal for loved ones who might need a temporary companion while you or other family members are busy. Alternatively, it could be for loved ones needing check-in visits to see how they are doing and if they might need help with anything at home so that your loved one can rest and recuperate.

Our Care Pro will be able to help your loved one with various ADLs around the house, as well as keep them company for light exercises, like simple stretches, and walks around the house or the nearby park grounds. They can also help with your loved one’s personal hygiene, such as showering or using the washroom.

If your loved one needs nursing care due to certain medical conditions, our nurses are able to provide wound dressings, blood glucose checks for diabetics, as well as help with insulin injections at the allotted times.

The Care Pro will be present at the specified location for 2 to 3 hours, within a span of 2 days per week throughout the plan’s duration. You can specify which days the Care Pro will need to be available when you discuss the plan with our Care Advisors.

The pricing for the 20-hour care plan is as follows for the different regions:

Penang, Perak & Kedah RM29.00 RM580.00 RM37.00 RM740.00

40-Hour Plan

The 40-hour plan can be viewed as an extension of the 20-hour plan, but catering to more frequent caregiving sessions by our Care Pros. It is suitable for diabetics who need wound dressing, or even for those looking to stay active while at home.

In addition to the services rendered within the 20-hour plan, this plan also includes mind-stimulating exercises with your loved one to help maintain their cognitive facilities. This is especially important for those who are recently diagnosed with dementia or other cognitive issues to help mitigate the onset of said health issues.

Nurses under the 40-hour plan may also perform similar duties as the 20-hour plan, as well as help with any other procedures that require a trained medical professional to be available. The schedule can be arranged for 3 to 4 hours for 3 days per week, or 10 hours per week, throughout the plan’s duration.

The pricing for the 40-hour care plan is as follows in the different states:

80-Hour Plan

If you require more thorough care for your loved one who may be recovering from a medical condition requiring long-term care (such as a stroke), or if you need light support in caring for them, our 80-hour plan may be what you need. 20 hours per week will give your loved one a decent amount of caregiving support to help your loved one with performing ADLs, especially when they need that assistance.

Besides that, our Care Pro can assist your loved one with some light exercises they can do at home, usually for a duration of 20 to 30 minutes a day or depending on how much they can do without straining themselves. Our Care Pro can also give your loved one a massage to help improve blood circulation and prevent bedsores from happening, which is particularly important for bedridden persons. For loved ones who are unable to take care of their hygiene, our Care Pros can provide personal hygiene care where needed.

150-Hour Plan

Our highest-tier plan can be used for over 37.5 hours per week, which translates to about 5 hours per day. This plan is suitable for not just post-hospital discharge, but also long-term care for loved ones with serious medical conditions such as dementia and stroke, or seniors living on their own who might need help around the house.

The 150-hour plan aims to provide comprehensive care for your loved one’s needs, especially if they have a serious medical condition that requires a lot of attention. All the activities our Care Pro or nurse can provide are similar to the other plans but also encompass other things that relate to giving your loved one the best care they deserve. It may take a little longer to complete certain activities, but rest assured that our professional caregiving team will do its very best for you and your loved one.

We also provide a duration of up to 8 hours of care if a person requires night caregiving, such as those who might need help with toileting at late hours.

Pay-per-Hour Care

If you do not need long-term care for your loved one, we also have smaller pay-per-hour options available for short-term care. Pay-per-hour caters to those who are looking for more flexible or sporadic hours in a month, or those looking for short-term respite from caregiving duties.

That means getting care from as low as 1 hour, as compared to other home care service providers that may require you to take a minimum of 4 hours or a non-negotiable daily or monthly rate.
