Care Pro Spotlight: Faisal Ridzuan & Arjuna Fariz
Father’s Day is seen as particularly important because it recognises the contributions of fathers to their families and society as a whole.
We have asked a couple of our Care Pros regarding their experience of being a (working) dad and here’s what Care Pro Faisal and Care Pro Arjuna have to say about their fatherhood journey!

What inspired you to join Homage?
The flexibility to select my working hours was the key factor that drew me to Homage – highly adaptable and ideal for me to balance job and family commitments!
What are the big changes, challenges or sacrifices you had to make after becoming a father?
Fatherhood isn’t a one-size-fits-all cap you simply slip on once you have a child. Once you become a father, you might start to feel the pressure of being a provider for your family while maintaining your performance at work. If you have a heavy workload or little choice about your hours, you can end up tired and stressed. There might even be less time for your family and yourself.
For me, the most significant change and struggle as a father is balancing time to educate children while still meeting the responsibilities of my career.
Regardless of how difficult it may be in my career, I have to be wise in order to meet the needs of my family while fulfilling the requirements of my job as a healthcare officer.

What’s the best thing about being a dad?
In religious point of view and as a Muslim dad, nothing makes me happier than seeing my children absorbing all the religious teachings that I have planted upon them. It is amazing to see that they hear the call to prayer and persevere to pray on time. In Islam, a person who follows their obligations is considered to be exceedingly successful in this world and the hereafter. Most of the children that maintain their prayers are extremely respectful of time and I am pleased to see that the individuals they are becoming now are precisely what I pictured them to be.

What inspired you to join Homage?
I like assisting individuals of all ages and races. I am convinced that with the skills I have, I can give more to the community in need.
How’s your work life after becoming a father?
My working life does not shift much as they are still set according to office hours. Coming home from work can feel like ending one shift and starting another, especially in the early days. This can be very demanding, but it can also be hugely rewarding. Time spent with your family, even little moments of joy with your child can often put work pressures into perspective. However, for me, the anticipation of going home to meet the child is strong and gives me a sense of joyfulness as I get to interact and spend time with my children.
Any words of encouragement/wisdom to share with fellow working fathers?
As working fathers, we play a vital role in shaping our children’s personalities. No matter how busy we are, we must carry this responsibility to educate and inspire our children to always be courteous and bright.
