A Homage To Malaysians

When it comes to seniors, care should never be compromised. We are proud to say we’re the only platform in Malaysia that fully supports getting Malaysians on board as our Care Pros and we truly honour the Care Pros who have worked tirelessly to provide care day in and day out.

“Malaysians taking care of Malaysians”

We always get the same questions: “Why don’t you hire foreigners?” “Are your caregivers local?” “What makes you different from the rest?”

The answer has and will always be the same — that we believe in ensuring the care we provide is one we can trust our own parents with, and that is why we only hire the best Malaysians to provide care you can trust and love.

Here are some reasons why we advocate for a care platform provided by Malaysians.

Strength in diversity

Malaysia is a melting pot of cultures where everybody can speak in different languages even if we come from different backgrounds and races. When it comes to Malaysians, our “rojak” language is one that is unique to us, where we can jumble up words from different languages, and yet, still understand each other.

By understanding familiar Malaysian conversations, communication with seniors is made easier ensuring they can be comfortable with the care they receive and that their requests can be communicated through a lot better, which would make a world of difference to Care Pros when they need to respond swiftly during emergencies like a stroke or accidental falls.

Building up locals

In 2019, Malaysia was ranked first in the healthcare space as Best Healthcare in the World in terms of infrastructure and healthcare services. By creating an avenue for locals to be equipped in geriatric care, we can instil a passion for individuals to care for their senior loved ones, especially as Malaysia becomes an ageing nation by 2030. Geriatric care may not be as appealing as paediatric care or maternity care, but it is highly crucial for any ageing population, especially when our nation is headed in that direction.

Malaysians will be more aware of conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and with basic knowledge and best practices, caring for seniors will become second nature. In turn, home care for seniors can move towards being a new normal emulating countries like Australia, the United Kingdom and Singapore.

Championing government initiatives

In the Malaysian economic policy — the Shared Prosperity Vision (SPV) 2030 envisions to create an entrepreneurial nation. This new economic development narrative aims to produce a knowledge-based and inclusive community while narrowing the economic gap between different income household groups.

By being invested in the local community, we are able to contribute to that vision by supporting and recognising hardworking Malaysian Care Pros who are able to earn while caring for others, in turn taking care of their loved ones at home.

Where Care Can Make A Difference

Just as our parents, grandparents and relatives have taken care of us when we were younger, it’s high time we appreciate our seniors who have selflessly raised us to be who we are today. We know that it can be hard dividing your responsibilities and time between work and home, and you would only want the best care for your seniors, even when you’re away.

For us, Malaysians are at the heart of what makes Homage, a homage to your loved ones.
